Parental leave

If you become a parent and want parental leave during your study, you must apply for parental leave.

Documentation

Please attach one of the following forms of documentation when you apply:

  • Medical journal with your due date
  • Birth certificate
  • Adoption certificate
  • Acknowledgement of paternity or co-motherhood

General rules on pregnancy

  • It is important to distinguish between maternity and pregnancy. Pregnancy does not in itself constitute an unusual situation and does not justify exemption. If you experience illness during your pregnantcy that affects your studies, you may submit an application for sick leave or apply for exemption separately.
  • When is parental leave granted? You can contact your study counsellor for a talk about the best to start and end your parental leave.
  • SU: Parental leave can affect your SU. It is therefore important that you examine your SU situation and possibly contact your SU counsellor in the study administration.
  • Residence permit: If you are not a Danish citizen and are on parental leave or other leave, you may risk losing your residence permit. If you have a residence permit because you are a student, you must be active as a student to keep your residence permit. The Board of International Recruitment and Integration does not consider a student to be active during parental leave.
  • Parental leave does not count in the maximum period of study time

How to apply

Go to sdbf.dk and fill out the application form. You'll need NemId to log on SDBF.

Apply on SDBF

Response to your application

Your application will be processed by the head of programme and the Study Administration. The head of programme will determine if you can be allowed an exemption. You will receive a reply from the Study Administration within five weeks.

The study and career counselors are ready with guidance in relation to your challenges, opportunities and choices

It is your home insurance that should cover any loss in connection with theft.

CARS

Any parking fines are solely a matter between the student and the parking operator, and KEA does not involve itself in or assume responsibility for such matters.

Guldbergsgade, Lygten 16 and Lygten 37

SPS (special educational support)

SPS is an aid scheme aimed to ensure that students with mental or physical disabilities are able to complete an educational programme on equal terms with other students.

The particular offers of aid depend on the disability the student is suffering from, e.g. dyslexics, hearing impairment, visual impairment, physical handicap, or psychological disorder.

Apply for aid

The first time the student applies for aid, a longer case handling time must be expected as multiple authorities are involved. In general, case handling time is expected to be between 2 weeks and 2 months.

For further information, please contact SPS Counsellor Lea Thorbek (contact information provided below) or go to the homepage of the Quality and Supervisory Board of the Ministry of Education (in Danish): SPSU.DK

Student Satisfaction Survey

Every second year, all students - both full-time and part-time students - participate in a survey that runs across the Danish Business Academies. The study focuses on both the academic and the social environment of the education, as well as your general experience of how the education works.

The survey will be sent to your KEA mail. Based on the results of the study, action plans are drawn up, which must address the focus areas that are being worked on in the various programs.

Study abroad

As a student at KEA you have the possibility to go abroad to take either a semester of study or your internship.

A stay abroad gives you a broader view – both as an individual and a professional. Living in another country sharpens your intercultural competences and will provide you with an international network. In other words: Your international experience will give your CV more colour and make you more attractive on today's labour market.

KEA has partnership agreements with educational institutions around the world, and KEA Global can help arrange:

  • Exchange
  • Study abroad
  • Internship abroad

It depends on the programme how to apply for a stay abroad. So, if you’re interested in going abroad, contact your international coordinator.

Find your international coordinator at global.kea.dk

Syllabus

At KEA Library you can always find a copy of the readings from your syllabus. You cannot borrow the books from the syllabus with you home, but you can read them in the library or scan the chapters you need on our book scanner. This way, you are always guaranteed access to the literature on your syllabus.

We often buy extra copies of the books on the syllabus for our regular collection, and you can of course borrow them to take home with you – under normal terms and according to the principle of first come, first served.

Tidying up

At KEA, we tidy up after ourselves – in the classrooms, offices and communal areas. KEA’s indoor and outdoor communal areas are available for everyone – employees and students – and you are welcome to use them in connection with your studies. At KEA, we regard it a shared responsibility to make sure that these areas are kept appealing.

Show consideration for other users by leaving the area as you would wish to find it – i.e. return furniture etc. to its original place after use, and remove any waste etc.

Please use the waste containers and the containers for deposit bottles and cans in the rooms. Do not leave things in the communal areas, including the bicycle-parking basement at GBG. Any items left there will be removed.

In the classrooms at GBG, Building E, and at PCG, there are designated boxes for items and papers left behind by students and subsequently found by the cleaning staff. The boxes will be emptied every Friday and the contents discarded, so make sure to check whether you may have left something behind that you want to keep.

Facility & IT regularly conducts tidying-up rounds at all KEA’s addresses. It is particularly important that you remove your things from the classrooms at the end of every semester.
